AUTHOR BIOGRAPHY

ROZAR 777 a.k.a. David Alister Chitty (1937 - 2022) was an occult artist, author and scriptwriter. Trained in Typhonian magick by Aleister Crowley’s chief disciple Gerald Yorke and self taught in Hua-Yen Buddhism, Taoism and Tantra, he achieved cult recognition amongst such contemporaries as author William Boroughs, Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page and occultist Kenneth Grant in the early 80s with his book The Butterflies of Thantos, a qabbalistic journey through a series of surrealist paintings with poetry, dystopian short stories and all kinds of esoteric and comedic weirdness thrown in for good measure.

Later he came tantalisingly close to major fame after one of his screenplays, Taxi Driver and the Star-Caged Venus, was picked up by Hollywood producer Robert Watts (responsible for for 7 of the top 100 highest grossing movies of all time including the original Star Wars trilogy and Indiana Jones) who described it as, “The movie I’ve waited all my life for”, and set about executive producing it but sadly poor health intervened and Watts retired from the industry before the project could come to fruition.

Since then he has gained an international following for The Magico-Cosmo Collages, unique artworks featuring a blend of his own photography and paintings with images from classical art, religion, fashion and pop culture.

We are proud to be able to release a gorgeous second edition of The Butterflies of Thantos with the surviving paintings reproduced in the full-colour psychedelic splendour they truly deserve. Although David sadly passed away in September 2022 after a short illness, he did get to approve the final proof and had also completed work on his magnum opus, The Pyramid of Impossible Dreams, which is due for publication next year, as well as several other important projects which will see his body of work long outlive him.
